Thank
you for your interest in the Ballroom Dance Company's
Volunteer Program and
Work-Study Exchange Program
The Ballroom Dance
Company was established in 1997 as not-for-profit organization, and
is now the DC area's largest proponents of all styles of social partner dancing.
Candidates for the Volunteer Programs or Work-Study Exchange Program
must have a strong desire to further the company's mission: "To
spread the joys and benefits of all styles of partner dancing through quality
instruction, artistic exhibitions, and inspiring performance."
As a non-for-profit organization, we rely on the volunteer efforts of supporters
and dance lovers like to continue to grow and fulfill our mission on an ongoing
basis. Although the work is considered volunteer the BDC
Volunteer and Work-Study positions are ones of great responsibility and should
be considered the same any paying position.
* Volunteers will
pick and choose whcih events they woudl lik to work and recieve free admission
to that event.
* Work Studies will most likely work only one day/night per week (or possibly
two short shifts), participation in the program requires three nights of availability
for advanced scheduling purposes and
the commitment of a two
month period at a time -- i.e.: Jan-Feb, Mar-Apr, May-June, Sept-Oct, Nov-Dec.
The remuneration for your
services will be unlimited classes and association benefits (i.e.: FREE classes,
event admissions, company activities), and more! Although
the exchange may not be for everyone, we have tried to design a program that
would be mutually fulfilling and rewarding for all participants and the organization.
For those who may be so inclined, this program is also a great way to get
an effective introduction to instructor training, as you may be eligible to
attend some of the professional Instructor Training classes, as well.
If you are
ready to...
*
Help the BDC fulfill it s non-profit, altruistic mission;
* Receive free dance classes, unlimited training, and VIP status at BDC
parties and events;
* Learn a social skill that can enrich your personal well being while enhancing
the social skills and fun times of others;
* Become part of a revolutionary arts/education organization for the enrichment
of others...
